Pope Francis

The first Argentine pope in history

The Jubilee of the year 2025 will be the second with Pope Francis. Pope Francis was elected in year 2013, after the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI.
He is the 266° Pope of the Catholic Church and the first Argentinian one in history. During the extraordinary Jubilee of the year 2015, he highlighted Jesus Christ’s message about mercy.
According to him, the point is not to never fail, but to be able to recognise one’s mistake and recover from it. In this, Christian morality represents an authentic revolution.
He called this extraordinary Jubilee to send a sign of proximity to African countries, and to do so he decided to open the Holy Gate of Bangui’s Cathedral.
